Crash, voice, and lobby fixes
Most “it won’t start” reports in the first week were speech recognition, a mismatched lobby version, or a PC clock that blocked AI access. The developers posted fixes. A third-party “voice lag” download is not one of those fixes.
What I checked
I lined up the 15, 16, 17, and 19 October news posts and pulled only the lines that name a failure and a change. I have not reproduced the crashes on hardware. A Steam guide titled as a voice-lag fix also points at a third-party patch. I am not linking a download for it. The guide page can sit as a community report; the file it offers is not from the publisher.
Try these in order
Let Steam finish the latest update. Hotfix 3’s version-mismatch screen exists because mixed builds were a real join failure. Then check Windows time. The 15 October post says an incorrect PC clock stopped AI access and that the game now explains that case.
If the caller never speaks, read the voice warning before you host. Higher-quality voices download separately. Qwen3 files moved to their own server on 15 October because the first host was unreliable. Hotfix 2 says typed lines still work when recognition will not start, and it lists fixes for stalled caller voices.
- Speech crash on older CPUs: Hotfix 2 and Hotfix 3 both say startup crashes on those machines were addressed. Update 0.1.82 switches supported languages to Moonshine when Whisper fails.
- Specific cards: the 15 October post names speech startup crashes on some GTX 1650 and RTX 4060 Ti PCs.
- Sign-in: Hotfix 3 adds a backup route when the main sign-in address cannot be reached.
- Boss-review clip fails: Hotfix 3 can send that recording through Steam instead.
What not to install
A comment that says “download my fix” is how a game about scams collects a second, real payload. Update through Steam. If the crash remains, use the publisher address on the store page, [email protected], or the official Discord. There is no official known-issues page beyond the news feed I checked.
FAQ
The game crashes when I talk.
Update to at least 0.1.82. The notes describe Whisper timeouts, a Moonshine fallback, and older-CPU startup crashes. Typed dialogue is the fallback.
Friends cannot join.
Match the game version. Hotfix 3 added a screen for that mismatch. Codes also fail when they are invalid, which Hotfix 2 says the client now flags.
Should I install a voice patch from a guide?
No. Use the Steam update. Third-party executables are outside the build this site is describing.
