Multiplayer lobbies for 1 to 8
Hotfix 2, posted 16 October 2026, says lobby sizes now range from 1 to 8 players and that the limits are enforced. A 4-player cap is leftover from older writeups. A 6-player cap belongs to the Xbox game by Hidden Floor Games.
What I checked
I copied the Hotfix 2 lines directly from the Steam news feed: public lobby filters, a “My version first” sort, and join-by-code that accepts Steam invite links and flags invalid codes. I do not have a sample room code, so I will not invent the format. Cross-play with Xbox or Roblox is not stated anywhere I checked.
How a friend gets in
Host and guest need the same game version. Hotfix 3 added clearer instructions when a lobby is on a different build, plus a Back button on that screen. If a friend cannot join, check that both clients took the latest Steam update before you blame the code.
Join by code accepts a Steam invite link. Public lobbies can be filtered, and “My version first” is the sort the hotfix added so you stop landing in rooms you cannot enter. Boss-review recordings can fall back to a Steam transfer if the usual video connection fails. That line is about the review clip, not about a general video chat app.
What this lobby is not
It is not a 25-player Roblox server. That number is the third-party experience Scam Together. It is not cross-platform with the Xbox title. Steam’s category list says online co-op and multiplayer for this Windows build only.
- Solo: a lobby of 1 is explicitly valid.
- Friends: code or Steam invite, same version, max 8.
- Strangers: public lobby filters, still capped at 8.
FAQ
How do I play multiplayer with my friends?
Launch the Steam game, host a lobby, and send a Steam invite or a join code. Everyone needs the same version. The cap is 8.
What is the max lobby?
1 to 8 players, from Hotfix 2 on 16 October 2026.
Can Xbox players join?
Nothing in the Steam or Xbox listings I checked says the two games share a lobby. Treat them as separate.
