Safety hub: the game, and real Steam scams
People search this title for two opposite reasons. Some want to know if the new Steam game will infect the PC. Others have already been hit by a friend-invite or gift-card scam and the words “steam scam” pulled them here. Those are different problems.
What I checked
I split my notes into three piles on 22 October 2026: the publisher privacy policy, a third-party malware write-up, and Valve’s own scam articles. The game pages use the first two piles. The Steam scams page uses only Valve and a general playtest-invite article, so a joke about fake virus windows never gets cited as security advice.
Pick the page that matches the worry
If the question is “will this game harm my PC, record me, or get me in trouble,” start with the virus and privacy check. It separates confirmed disclosures from player allegations.
If the question is “someone on Steam asked me for a code, a gift card, or a login,” skip the game and read the Steam scams page. Valve’s help articles are the procedure. This site does not replace Steam Support.
If the question is about racist stereotypes in the setting, that argument is on the controversy page, not in the install guide.
- In-game police raids and virus popups are written into the store description as hazards of the shift.
- A popup on the real desktop, outside the game, is not that mechanic.
- Playing a fictional scam is not legal advice. The game is entertainment. Real fraud is still fraud.
FAQ
Is it illegal to scam inside this game?
The store sells it as a comedy about fictional AI callers. This page is not a legal opinion. Cheating real people out of money, on Steam or off it, is not what the game is for and can be a crime where you live.
Is the game a virus?
The Steam build has not been shown to be malware in the sources checked here. Read the safety check before you download anything that is not Steam.
I was actually scammed on Steam. Now what?
Use the Steam scams page and then Steam Support. Do not send recovery codes to a person who offers to help in chat.
